Who Are We?

It was the first week, of our first year studying at the University of Exeter when Jellie all started. Halfway down a long line for a bad club I met a cheerful Welsh girl who had not dressed for the weather. One loaned jacket, sixteen years, countless beers, adventures and travels later and here we are!

Ellie is a Welsh girl from rural Monmouthshire (her home village looks like a film set) and I (John) am a Womble from Wimbledon. We bonded over … well beer mainly and the establishments that sell it, but we quickly discovered our mutual love of travel, food and adventures. After university we moved up to London and we are based in Streatham, South London.

After a decade working in the offices of London and snatching travel in the time off these jobs allowed, we made the mature and sensible decision to leave our jobs and seek adventure around the world!

In July 2022 we set off.

This blog is our attempt at chronicling our adventures around the world. With in-depth guides, tips and tricks and lessons learned from our long-term travel.

This will not be your usual travel blog. Don't expect the top ten flat whites of Bali or the seven best brunches in Bangkok.

We like to take things slowly and really get to know a place. We're not eighteen and this isn't our first trip through Asia. We love eating like locals, exploring by ourselves and generally getting happily lost in streets, mountains and markets.

This blog will be about our perspective on our adventure through this amazing world, complete with all the mishaps, mistakes, triumphs and successes along the way. Hopefully it will provide you with some inspiration, if not instruction, to get up and out of your comfort zone and into this wonderful world.
